Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the MentionsAPI service ("Service", "we", "us") at mentionsapi.com, you ("Customer", "you") agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

MentionsAPI is a developer API that returns brand-visibility data from official LLM provider APIs and third-party browser-based scraping infrastructure. Modes, pricing, and reliability targets are documented at /methodology and /docs.

3. Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG)

The Service is billed pay-as-you-go via a prepaid credit balance. New accounts receive $1.00 of free signup credit. Top-ups are non-refundable except as required by applicable law and as specifically allowed by Section 7. Per-call pricing is published at /docs/wallet and may be revised with 30 days notice via email.

4. Acceptable use

You will not (a) attempt to bypass rate limits, balance checks, or other technical controls; (b) resell raw responses without adding substantial value; (c) use the Service to generate or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, or violates the terms of any upstream LLM provider; (d) attempt to reverse-engineer credentials of the underlying scraping infrastructure.

5. API keys & security

You are responsible for the security of your API keys. We will never email or chat-message you to request your API key. Compromised keys can be rotated at /app/keys.

6. Data & privacy

We log API request metadata (timestamp, mode, cost, cache status, provider success rate) for billing, abuse detection, and reliability monitoring. We do not log full request bodies or response bodies beyond what's required to deliver and refund the call. See the Privacy Policy for details.

7. Refunds

Per-call refunds are issued automatically when an API call fails to deliver the requested data — fully on total failure and pro-rated on partial multi-platform failures. Wholesale balance refunds for unused credit are available within 30 days of the most recent top-up by emailing support, less Stripe processing fees.

8. SLA & uptime

Per-mode reliability targets are published at /methodology and enforced as best-effort. We do not guarantee specific uptime for any individual mode. Live status and 7-day rolling success rates are visible at /v1/health.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time from the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate Section 4 or whose usage patterns indicate fraud or abuse. Unused credit balance at termination may be refunded under Section 7.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the Service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a new version at this URL and emailing material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
